Rijksakademie Studio Portraits

by Verena Blok

In the run-up to last year’s Open Studios, Verena Blok initiated a series of studio portraits of her fellow Rijksakademie residents, that she has now finished. Here you can find the entire series together.

Verena Blok (RA 20/22) works mainly with photography and moving image. As a personal contribution to all residents and the residency, she made a series of portraits of her fellow residents in their studio. Half of this particular group started their residency right before the first lockdown in March 2020 and continued during the pandemic, the other half arrived in September 2021 when corona was still defining our daily lives. During all lockdowns, these studios luckily continued to be accessible. A private space that usually remains unseen by the outside world. The project was for Verena a way to regain connection with each other during a time of virtual encounters and isolation.
