Mîrkan Deniz based (Stateless) in Zurich.
Deniz works with sculpture, drawing, video, and installation. Their conceptual works are often reconstructions and citations. One of their interests is the tension between materials and immaterial effects (trauma, ineffable experiences, and memories).
How could an object (a sculpture) maintain this tension while investigating the relationship between past, violence, and subjectivity?
Mîrkan Deniz received in the past years the Junge Akademie Preis of Akademie der Künste Berlin, the Swiss Art Awards and the Art Prize of Zürich.
Recent exhibitions include Musée du Louvre, Musée Historique Lausanne, Aargauer Kunsthaus, Akademie der Künste Berlin, Haus Konstruktiv Zürich, Helmhaus Zürich, Museum of Modern Art, Ljubljana.
