The Rijksakademie Foundation is a registered cultural ANBI. The Rijksakademie aims to increase the impact of contemporary art by giving promising artists from all over the world the opportunity to further develop their work and thinking. This takes place in a well-equipped, stimulating and diverse environment, where new art forms are created that challenge and inspire and that add new meaning to contemporary society.

The Rijksakademie Foundation is managed by director Emily Pethick. There is a management team in which the head of residency, finances, facilities and the Trustfonds Foundation are represented. The board and management team meet regularly, at least once every six weeks.
The Rijksakademie Foundation has a Supervisory Board, consisting of Karl Guha, Otobong Nkanga (co-chair), Constantijn van Oranje-Nassau and Marian Scheele (co-chair). The Board supervises the policy of the management and the general course of affairs in the institution.
The salary and other terms and conditions of employment for the Rijksakademie director are subject to the Standards of Remuneration Act for top officials in the public and semi-public sector.
The employees of the Rijksakademie foundation are covered by the Collective Labor Agreement for Independent National Museums.
Chairman and members of the Supervisory Board do not receive any remuneration.
