Become a Friend

As a Friend of the Rijksakademie, you contribute to creating space for experimentation – each in your own way. Perhaps you mainly want to observe and be inspired, or perhaps you want to become actively involved in the development of artists. Every form of involvement is welcome.

As a Friend, you not only make art possible, you become a real part of it. You support a place where the newest voices in contemporary art are given a platform – in well-equipped studios and workshops, surrounded by a large international network of artists, thinkers and makers. What's more, you get an exclusive look behind the scenes: you meet artists, discover their work before it reaches a gallery or museum, and are invited to special events, previews and talks.

We have four levels within our Friends programme. The more you contribute, the greater your involvement – with extra access to, for example, exclusive tours, the collection or international events.

There are several levels to become part of our community:

  • Studio Member | from €500 | a first step into our community
  • Core Friend | €1,500 | closer to the artist community, with extra moments of access
  • The Collective | from €5,000 | making a residency possible together
  • Innovator | from €20,000 | tailor-made involvement and access to international meetings

  • Are you curious about the creative process and would you like to be part of the energy of the residency? As a Studio Member (€500 per year), you are welcome to attend a number of exclusive events: from the preview of the Open Studios to the Meet the New Artists event. You will experience and discover what is emerging here.

  • Are you looking for more depth and want to experience the artist's practice up close? As a Core Friend (€1,500 per year), you will be invited to special workshop visits, meet alumni and see how ideas take shape in the workshops.

  • Would you like to actively contribute to the artistic ecosystem of the Rijksakademie? As a member of The Collective (€5,000 per year), you will have access to in-depth programmes, such as Art Rotterdam and exclusive collection visits. You will help to make innovation possible, now and in the future.

  • Would you like to support art in a structural way and be directly involved in everything that happens within the walls of the Rijksakademie? As an Innovator (€20,000 per year), you will be an ambassador for our vision. You will meet the artists and the team and gain access to our international networks. You will help the Rijksakademie move forward in a meaningful way.

    For over 150 years, the Rijksakademie has been a place where artists dare to experiment, ask questions and reinvent themselves.
