Live from the Rijks

In ‘Live from the Rijks – 150 Years of Artistic Practice’ an abundance of pieces of our rich history will be shared with the public. For the compilation of this exhibition artist and alum Dina Danish and artist and former advisor Hermann Pitz approached the entire building and its contents as though it was a Wunderkammer.

While examining the diverse Rijksakademie collection, they also contemplated on the curious objects that have been accumulated throughout the years; be it the failed experiments at the workshops, the food and drinks consumed at cantina, the leftovers of sculptures in the garden, the dances, music bands, protests, collaborations and friendships formed throughout the existence of the Rijksakademie. Danish and Pitz have been gathering these as an archive that can possibly speak of the multiple stories of the Rijksakademie.

The Wunderkammer is located in Project Room South and includes art works from the collection, archival material, and curious found objects that have been left behind or kept and cherished over the years. Throughout the exhibition a series of special events will take place.

Video and Mindmap

To accompany the exhibition Dina Danish and her band Dina from Egypt created a music video inspired by the Wunderkammer findings. Hermann Pitz designed a Mind Map of 150 years of Rijksakademie, which will be available for visitors (while stocks last).
