on falling
Open research workshop
Thu 1, Fri 2 and Sat 3 May, 17.00–19.00
Rijksakademie
Entrance free. RSVP via nora.aurrekoetxea@gmail.com
On this three-day workshop, Adam Russell-Jones and Nora Aurrekoetxea will explore the fall (physical and emotional) as constant state of existence rather than an exceptional event. The sessions will offer a space for research, where specific exercises on falling and its contradictions will be explored individually and collectively combined with improvisation and automatic writing.
About participation:
Nora Aurrekoetxea is a Basque artist currently in residence at the Rijksakademie. She graduated in Fine Arts at the University of The Basque Country and holds an MA in Sculpture at Royal College of Art, London. Her sculptural practice questions the function of objects in close proximity to the body and architecture while exploring questions related to the emotional aspects of intimate spheres. She proposes workshops as a method to exchange and expand her sculptural practice through writing and movement in collaboration with other artists and participants. The process of this collective research enables exploring vital positions in relationship to the form while exploring the relationship between written, oral and body language.
Adam Russell-Jones is a UK born, Berlin based artist with a background in classical ballet and a growing practice in contemporary performance. Adam trained at the Royal Ballet School and danced with the Stuttgart Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theater, and Staatsballett Hannover. His work bridges dance, theatre and visual art.
