Lotte Werkema

Lotte Werkema makes fictional accessories. Strange, recognisable products that on the one hand contain the promise of physical redemption and on the other hand emphasize the unattainability of that ideal. Her work arises from her own reality: life with a disability. For Lotte, appropriating a resource or situation is a way of exercising control and ironic resistance to things beyond her control. She also works with performance and creates installations that deal with her physical relationship to public space.
