About the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten
The Rijksakademie is one of the most renowned international residency programmes for contemporary artists. Approximately 50 artists all over the world spend two years working under optimal conditions on research, experimentation and the production of new work. Our building in Amsterdam houses 50 studios where the artists can work. In addition, there are technical workshops, a library, and a Cantina. A group of advisors supports the artists in their artistic development. The team of 40 staff members consists of specialists who support the artists in various ways and ensure smooth operational management.
The Rijksakademie distinguishes itself as a platform for artistic innovation and reflection. It plays a crucial role in the cultural ecosystem, offering artists the opportunity to develop and connect with an international network. Alumni are represented in leading museums, biennials, and artistic initiatives worldwide. Founded in 1870, the Rijksakademie has evolved into an internationally renowned residency.
ProfileAbout the Supervisory Board
The Board currently consists of five members. The chairmanship is shared by two members (co-chairs). The Supervisory Board consists of experienced professionals with a proven track record, a passion for art and culture, and the necessary expertise in the field of governance and strategy. The members are able to exercise independent and critical supervision and act as a sounding board for the director and management. The chair and members of the Supervisory Board do not receive any remuneration.

The appointment is for five years, with the possibility of a one-time extension of five years. As a member of the Supervisory Board, you will attend an average of four regular meetings per year, as well as a few additional meetings and consultations in connection with the audit committee.
Your personal profile
For this role, we are looking for a supervisor with a strategic view of business operations and demonstrable financial expertise. You can understand complex figures and translate them into administrative considerations, and you can involve your fellow supervisors in this process.
