Coordinator Cantina

We are looking for a Coordinator Cantina for 32 hours per week, starting on 1 April 2026.

About the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten

The Rijksakademie is one of the most renowned international residency programmes for contemporary artists. Approximately 50 artists all over the world spend two years working under optimal conditions on research, experimentation and the production of new work. Our building in Amsterdam houses 50 studios where the artists can work.
In addition, there are technical workshops, a library, and a Cantina. A group of advisors supports the artists in their artistic development. The team of 40 staff members consists of specialists who support the artists in various ways and ensure smooth operational management.

The Rijksakademie's Cantina serves as a central meeting place for artists, staff, and advisors. Every day, fresh lunches and dinners are prepared with enormous passion and love for food. The team includes four chefs who have played a permanent and indispensable role within the Cantina for many years. Together with them, you will ensure that everything runs smoothly – from the kitchen to planning and from suppliers to the team – with clarity, energy and commitment.

What does the position involve?

As Coordinator Cantina, you are the beating heart of our kitchen and meeting place. You are responsible for daily organisation and administration, including orders, stock management, supplier contact, schedules, time registration and agenda.

In addition, as a chef, you will develop your own menus for lunches, dinners and events, while also schedule yourself for lunches and dinners, as well as catering for various activities throughout the year. You will manage the team, enjoy rolling up your sleeves and ensure that everything runs smoothly and hospitably. We are looking for a loyal, flexible team player with a hands-on mentality, a genuine interest in people and the arts, and a willingness to look beyond a standard 9-to-5 working day.

Profile

  • You have completed a chef training programme (MBO 4) and have several years of work experience.
  • You have certificates in social hygiene and food safety.
  • You take responsibility and get energy from working together.
  • You are organised and have experience in managing a team.
  • You maintain an overview, but also enjoy working in the kitchen or on the floor yourself.
  • You are a team player and communicate clearly and openly.
  • You are flexible, practical and hands-on.
  • You are fluent in both Dutch and English.

What do we offer you?

An inspiring working environment in an internationally renowned organisation. Our culture is informal and ambitious, and leaves room for your own professional ideas and preferences. We are looking for someone to fulfil this role for 32 hours per week. Initially, we offer you a one-year contract, with the prospect of extension. Salary is based on scale 7 (Museum CAO), which means that for a 36-hour work week you will earn between € 3,015, and n € 3,747 per month.
